22 coastal municipalities, from Montalto di Castro to Minturno, and 2 island municipalities, Ponza and Ventotene. Around ten ports across Lazio, with Civitavecchia standing out as a leader in the Tyrrhenian Sea. Lazio accounts for 17% of the national marine economy’s added value, generating €10.63 billion.
The Lazio Region has strengthened its infrastructure with the approval of the new Port Plan for Regional Economic Interest, which includes authorization for 7 new marinas for recreational boating. A €90 million plan for the integrated protection of Lazio’s coast—threatened by erosion and climate change—has also been launched. Additionally, up to €35 million in further funding has been allocated, particularly for the internationalization of the blue economy sector.
The Blue Economy General Assembly and the organization of the Lazio Sea Expo in 2026 will be the next steps in consolidating Lazio’s leadership in the Blue Economy.
