Good news for Lazio’s aerospace sector—one of Europe’s strongest and most advanced industrial ecosystems—has come from the Farnborough International Airshow in the United Kingdom.
With 360 companies, more than 23,000 employees, €5 billion in annual turnover, thousands of researchers, four universities, and the European Space Agency operating in the region, Lazio’s aerospace ecosystem emerged even stronger from the prestigious international event.
By November, the transformation of the current Technology District into the Lazio Aerospace and Security Industrial and Technology District will be completed. Starting in September, the new district will benefit from a total allocation of €115 million through two new funding calls supporting projects and productive investments in strategic critical technologies.
These developments come within a broader framework of strengthened institutional cooperation between the Lazio Region and the Italian Space Agency (ASI), aimed at accelerating the growth of Italy’s Space Economy.
At the European level, Brussels plans to invest €130 billion to enhance Europe’s competitiveness in security, defence, and aerospace. Lazio is determined to play a leading role in seizing this strategic opportunity.
