Lazio confirms its position as an attractive destination for investments in the energy transition sector. In Ceprano, in the province of Frosinone, a new 65 MW/260 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) is set to be developed by ReFeel New Energy and has recently been acquired by Encavis, a Germany-based Independent Power Producer (IPP).
The operation marks Encavis’ first large-scale investment in the Italian energy storage sector, expanding the company’s footprint within the national energy market. Scheduled for commercial operation in 2028, the facility will strengthen storage capacity to support renewable energy generation.
The Ceprano project aligns with Encavis’ strategy to increasingly integrate renewable power generation, storage systems, and market energy optimization tools, enabling greater flexibility in electricity management.
With this investment, Encavis further expands its Italian portfolio, which currently features around 420 MW of solar capacity. The company is also active in the “Energy Release 2.0” program, through which it secured approximately 3.7 TWh—representing over 16% of the total allocated volume.
The investment in Ceprano underscores Lazio’s strong appeal for new renewable energy initiatives and innovative energy infrastructure, in a context of growing focus on solutions designed to drive the evolution of the national energy system.
