Rome Technopole Takes Off

The Lazio Region is allocating over €6 million to complete Rome’s research hub—additional resources that complement €110 million in PNRR funding. The commitment is aimed at strengthening Lazio’s vocation to become an innovation hub, consolidating its position nationwide. Lazio is Italy’s second-ranked region and increasingly active at the European level, where it has climbed 15 places in just a few years.
A new headquarters in Pietralata—and fresh funding—will support the incubator betting on high tech and advanced applications, the digital economy, biotechnology, and AI. The Pietralata site will also enable real-world testing of innovative solutions designed for a net-zero building, including green hydrogen and geothermal energy. This ecosystem will fuel a high-end applied-research pipeline, from the green transition to biopharma.
