Lazio Accelerates Its Technology District

Already a leader in Italy for research, aerospace, and defense, Lazio is stepping up its efforts: the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Industrial and Technological District is set for November. The announcement was made by Vice President Roberta Angelilli during an event dedicated to the Space Economy. The region’s aerospace supply chain already generates a turnover exceeding €5 billion, and recent decisions are expected to further bolster this contribution.

Current geopolitical tensions highlight the need to strengthen sovereignty in critical strategic technologies, mobilize resources for key investments, and establish competitive industrial supply chains in the global market.

To support this sector, the region is preparing to launch two calls for proposals: STEP-FRI, in collaboration with Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, which will make €60 million available for companies looking to invest in the industry; Technological Supply Chains (Filiere Tecnologiche), to be presented on October 9, which will add an additional €55 million.

At stake are the €130 billion that Brussels will make available starting in 2028: Lazio aims to be ready for this opportunity with a clear strategy and mobilized resources.
